Keratin treatment versus Thermal Hair Smoothing Treatment

May 26th, 2018 by
Keratin treatment versus Thermal Hair Smoothing Treatment  What is the difference between them and how should you choose wish one would work best for you. Has you know, a Keratin treatment is a treatment that’s made of a lot of protein and  Keratin that goes in the hair and it helps to smooth and control the hair.  So especially in African American type hair.  If you’re going through a transition where you’re transitioning from a relaxer, to go back to your natural hair then a Keratin treatment would help to loosen the curl pattern on your own hair and make it more manageable.   On the other hand, if you have Caucasian type or multi-cultural hair then the keratin treatment would loosen the curl pattern, makes the hair frizz free and give it a straighter look as well as cut down your blow drying time by 50% or more.   There’s a lot of controversy with Keratin treatment as associated with t the big word ‘formaldehyde’.  This is a   chemical that you don’t want in your hair.   In previous years, a lot of Keratin treatment was made from formaldehyde.  What formaldehyde does is it straightens, it makes the hair more straight,  almost pin straight, really straight. It’s a very harsh chemical. It can cause cancer. They use it to embalm dead bodies so you don’t want it in your hair. Has a result a lot of Keratin companies stop making their Keratin treatment with formaldehyde. A lot of companies now start making another system call Thermal Smoothing Treatment.   A thermal smoothing system  also  rearrange the hair, but it only stays on the surface of the hair so it doesn’t last as long,  and it’s easier for you to revert it. So normally if you get a thermal smoothing treatment in your hair,.  Your hair will go back to its natural state easier than a Keratin treatment.   The choice between both treatments will depend on what you are looking for.  If you’re African American and you’re wearing your hair natural or you’re transitioning into wearing your hair natural and you’re looking for a natural non chemical look then a thermal smoothing treatment it would not be a bad idea. The thermal smoothing Treatment will give your hair more manageability and it’s going to cut down on the frizz, cut and blow dry in time. Make it easier to flat iron. And when you do flat iron, it will give you more of, a silk press type look.   Most thermal treatment also is more easier to convert back to your natural hair state.. For instance, there’s one made by Naked and with the Naked thermal smoothing system If you do the thermal treatment and you want to go back to your natural hair state  then after three weeks you go back to your stylist, she does  a detox shampoo and it will revert it back as opposed to if you did a Keratin treatment, you have to wait for it to wear off or revert our naturally.  Using non sulfate free shampoo will also revert the keratin providing there was not formaldehyde in it.  Provided the Keratin treatment does not have formaldehyde in it, then your hair should go back to its natural state. There are people that will say, I did a Keratin treatment. I lost all my curls. My hair is dead straight. My curls went away. I’m going to assume that that Keratin must have had formaldehyde in it. In order for you to lose all your curl pattern after months and years after doing the treatment, it never came back the natural assumption would be there was formaldehyde in the treatment unless you forgot what your hair was like before the treatment or maybe you did the too much flat ironing while the treatment was in.  Too much flat ironing can also cook the hair and make it not revert back.  If you’re looking to have a smoother finish, you’re looking for frizz-free hair, you want more manageability  in your hair or looking to  transition from a relaxer to natural hair and you don’t want to have that breakage because as your  hair grows out of the relaxer, the roots are going to be thick, the ends are  going to be  thin and straight from the relaxer and this will cause the ends  to break away from the root of the hair. Some other transitional treatments would be a Keratin treatment or a Botox treatment or a hair plastic surgery, but in the case of the thermal smoothing treatment, it typically last on that hair maybe about 12 weeks, and then you could redo it.  The Keratin treatment is the same scenario except with the Keratin It may live in the hair longer. So after three months when it’s supposed to be gone. There still may be residue in it because some Keratin treatment will penetrate into the Cortex, layer off the hair. The thermal smoothing treatment, typically it stays at the cuticle layer, which is the first layer of the hair, and that’s the place where all physical change of the hair takes place. So that’s the layer that gets changed when you do a blow dry or a flat iron is a physical change. The cortex layer is the inner part of the hair and that’s where all chemical changes take place and even though the. Keratin is not a chemical. Sometime it does penetrate into the CORTEX, which is why, people will say my curl pattern is not the same. My curls calm down  when the treatment was done but  it did not come back the same way, or my curls came back but  they are not  as tight as they used to be. That could be because the Keratin may  have penetrated into the cortex layer.   This  happens a lot with formaldehyde  type Keratin treatments as well as other treatment types as well,  so that may be a cause. So if you’re more looking to stay on  the natural side and  you want more manageability, but you don’t want nothing to penetrate into your cortex layer. of your hair, then the terminal smoothing   treatment would be a better choice.  You would  call a professional hair  salon and  get  a consultation. We do a bunch  of consultations here at Shallamar’s Hair Solution.   A consultation is very important before you make a decision.    It’s is hard to do a consultation on the phone. You have to literally go into the salon for a consultation to get  an accurate analysis of your hair because when you tell someone whatever you tell them, it’s hard for them to give you an answer if they can’t see, touch and feel your hair. So when it comes to thermal smoothing treatments versus Keratin treatment, I would say if you’re looking for a less permanent change, you would go with the thermal smoothing  treatment, however  if you’re looking for something that will make your hair more straighter and with looser curls then a Keratin Treatment would be a better choice.  If you’re for looking for  something that lasts longer in the hair and you definitely want to get rid of some of your curl pattern and you want to make the curl calm  and looser and you don’t mind if they stay loose than the keratin treatment would be a better choice. There’s also the express Keratin, which doesn’t really do much as far as changing the cortex layer for your hair. The express keratin  is also a good choice when it comes to children and manageability of their hair. I’d recommend the thermal smoothing  treatment or an express Keratin because those are kind of quick. The hair will revert right back. The express Keratin lasts about four to six shampoos. In the children’s hair ,  The thermal smoothing  lasts up to 12 weeks and it’s not a chemical whatsoever   The thermal smoothing treatment will be really great on children’s hair. If you’re trying to get more manageability of your kids hair, I would definitely recommend that over any kind of chemical  on children’s hair. I don’t believe in using any kind of relaxers or any chemical on any child’s hair until at least the age of 13 because the hair goes through a lot of  changes up to the age of 12 years old.  Once you get to thirteen  and then you can start playing with chemicals, which I don’t  advise because most people stay home and do the chemicals themselves and create a mess on their children hair.   So regarding Keratin treatment on thermal smoothing  treatment, I will say the thermal would be a  better choice for children. The Thermal  Smoothing   treatment will give you more  control and give you the manageability. Last in the hair for 12 weeks and give your natural hair more strength.  It gives you  smoothness, gives you that frizz-free look , but it will not rearrange your hair  pattern  permanently  Your hair  will  come right back soon as the product wears off.  If you’re having any problems with Keratin treatment then  the thermal smoothing treatment would be a better choice. If you have never tried any of them, then you’d need to come in for a consultation either with us or with a top professional salon that does both, who will be  able to explain to you the differences. Look at your hair, see what your goals are. And help you  make that decision.   Article Written by Sandy Sills Shallamar’s Hair Soluions 407 507 3000 www.shallamarshairsolutions.com

Hair Plastic Surgery – What Is It?

May 23rd, 2018 by
What is hair plastic surgery?      It’s a big word. Is it about performing surgery on your hair? Not at all, but it’s a new system. It’s not really new. Its a few years old. It’s made by a company called Fios in Brazil. There is no formaldehyde. Let’s discuss what this procedure entails. Hair Plastic surgery was designed for people that are looking to control. Their hair without the use of any chemicals. There are no chemicals in this whatsoever, which means you can still color your hair if you’d like. You can still have highlights, you can still do your root touch-ups as well as relaxers with the hair plastic surgery, it’s not a chemical. If you’re looking to control your hair because it’s too curly or it’s still frizzy. Or if you are looking to cut down your blow-dry time by about 50 percent? Or if you’re a transition to grow out your relaxer and revert back to your natural hair or if you have children and it’s hard for you to control their hair because it’s either multicultural hair type or it’s just too frizzy or it’s still kinky or whatever the situation is. The hair plastic surgery would be good for that. What is hair plastic surgery? What it does it do? It goes in the hair and works primarily in the cuticle and cortex layer to pull down your natural curl pattern to make it straighter and more manageable. It will not take away all your curls, so if you have curly hair, what it will do is loosen your curl pattern to make your hair more manageable. The curls become looser, especially if they have tight curls. If you have straight hair and you use the hair plastic surgery, it will prevent it from being frizzy. It will give it more smoothness. It also gives it more nutrients, there are also nutrients in the hair plastic surgery. There’s a product called Acai berry that’s very beneficial to the hair it also has acetine which is also very beneficial to the hair. It has amino acid. which builds the amino acid chain links in the CORTEX, layer of the hair, and it also has different vitamins and minerals essential for the growth and the bounce and the thickness and the volume of your hair. hair plastic surgery Now, let’s talk about this a little bit deeper. If you’re looking to do a hair color, or if you’re a due for a root touch up or if you’re going to do highlights or if you’re going into a full color, if you are going to do any of that stuff or relaxer, you would want to do that prior to doing the hair Plastic surgery. You can do it on the same day of the hair plastic surgery, but you want to do it before you put the hair plastic surgery in. Now, once you do that, you can do the hair plastic surgery. If you are due for a root touch up while you have the hair plastic surgery, you could do that. The hair plastic surgery lives in the hair longer than the Keratin is the hair botox. It lives in hair length. And it last in the hair about three to four months. You could do a color over it, like a root touch up over it and it won’t take too much of it out. You definitely don’t want to do a full head of highlights or a full head of color while it’s in there because even though it will still live in the hair it will take a good percentage out of it. You can do your color root touch up while the Hair Plastic Surgery is in, it won’t take out as much as most Keratin treatment, assuming the Keratin Treatment does not have formaldehyde. Well, most keratin treatment, you could do a root touch up on, but you will lose a lot of the treatment during the process, more than the Hair Plastic Surgery. Some people are able to keep the treatment in their hair for up to five months based on how often they are shampooing and if they are getting chemical treatments done while the treatment is in. It also depends upon how often you’re shampooing your hair. If you’re shampooing your hair a lot, the more you shampoo the more it will come out but it will generally last up to 4 months. You should also budget for the home care products that you will need when you do the hair plastic surgery. It comes with a certain shampoo and conditioner that you use at home if you are shampooing at home as well as a mask and a primer. The home care products help the treatment to live in the hair longer. Now the mask you would use on your hair every two weeks. And how this would work is you shampoo first, you put the mask on, you sit with this for about 20 minutes or so, it doesn’t really need heat, you could just sit with it 20 minutes with a processing cap on, once the time has expired rinsed that out, at that point you’ll just go straight to your leaving primer. So there are four products on the line, the shampoo, the conditioner, the mask on the primer. The primer helps to attract moisture from your environment. So in the air that’s around us, there’s moisture and you want the good moisture to be attracted to your hair so that your hair maintains moisture and stays moisturized. So that’s what the Primer does. In Orlando, Florida, where the climate is very humid, this treatment is a must do to give humidity free hair. It is also a good idea to get a professional consultation before you decide on this treatment or any other treatment. It’s very important that you understand what it’s about and what’s going to happen. You should try to use the products on the line to provide longevity of the treatment. It is also a great treatment for children awesome because it loosens up their natural curl pattern without damaging their hair. Once the treatment is done you could wear your hair curly or straight based on your natural hair texture before the treatment was done. So if you have naturally curly hair and did the hair plastic surgery, it will loosen the curl pattern down so you can wear your hair curly if you’d like or you could blow dry and flat iron it. In the case that you blow it, it will not revert as easily, so it won’t be reverting back as easily had it would without the treatment. Your curls will also remain calm and not get puffy once the humidity hits it. So the commitment is worth it. The process takes about 2 to 3 hours based on the length and volume of your hair. It’s definitely a great substitution for a relaxer. It will not make it as straight as a relaxer for people wearing a relaxer but it will give the hair a lot more manageability, even more so than a Keratin treatment will. Once it wears off your hair once you approach that four to five months mark, your hair will gradually go back to its natural state has the treatment wears off. So after a few months, it will just wear out or you’ll notice it wearing out because you’ll notice your hair is going back to what it was before the treatment was done. You could absolutely do this every three to four months with no harm, no damage. You can also absolutely colors, highlights root touchups, whatever it is. If you’re going to go swimming, it’s a good idea. To wet your hair before you go in the pool or to the beach and after you finished swimming, it’s a good idea to shampoo your hair out with the shampoo on the line so that you get rid of the chlorine or any kind of salt built up in the hair.   You should shampoo your hair after swimming no matter what treatment is in your hair, but especially with these products in it. You wouldn’t need any other extensive treatment o while you have this in because it’s a treatment within itself. So it’s going to live in the hair for three to four months and give you that manageability for that period of time. There’s no crazy smell and burning and stinging while you get the treatment done. I would definitely recommend it for people who are looking to stay away from chemicals but still want to have manageability on their hair. The difference between the keratin and the hair plastic surgery is that it lives in the hair longer, it makes it straighter but it won’t make it dead straight. It will not make it that dead straight because there is formaldehyde. There is no formaldehyde whatsoever, but it is going to smooth it, and make your hair more manageable. It’s going to cut down your blow-dry time by 50 percent. Make it frizz free. Make it humidity proof, loosen your curl pattern so you’re actually able to wear your curls outside without it getting puffy. So the hair plastic surgery is a great option Feel free to give us a call 407 507 3000 for a complimentary consultation or be sure to find a professional hair salon that does this process and be sure to understand how the process will work before you get it done. We hope we were able to answer your questions on what is the Hair Plastic Surgery. Frontals, Closures & 360s – What is the Difference

May 23rd, 2018 by
Frontals, Closures & 360s  The difference between a closure, a frontal and a 360.  There are many different controversies about these different pieces.  Some people confuse them and also some people become very disappointed when they put certain ones of them in, and it does not work, the way they think it should work. So I’m Sandy with Shallamar’s Hair Solutions I’ve been doing hair for 20 something years. I’ve been doing the weaves and extensions and sew-ins even before closures and frontals, and 360s were invented. So I’ve been around for a long time.  We’re going to start off with closures. There are two different kinds of closures. There is a lace closure and there is a silk closure. Closures The lace closure is transparent and once it goes up against the scalp, it will show your part and that’s how that works with a lace closure. You’re not able to move your part from side to side because it’s just a four by four square unit so you will not be able to move your part from side to side.  So with a closure, it gives you a natural scalp looking part with a sew in hair extension. You won’t be able to move it from side to side.   Based upon how it’s sewn you may be able to move the part somewhat, but you can’t take it from the left side to the right side. So you will need to decide which side you want your part on before the sew-in takes place and where you want this closure to be. Whether you want it to be left or right side. This goes for both kinds of closures.   The second closure is called a silk base closure, it is more reinforced on the base than the lace closure. The difference with the silk is that the top as a scalp like surface. So when you part into the silk,  you get more of a scalp part, so the difference between both is that one has more of a scalp part.   The silk is going to be a little bit more expensive because it’s more reinforced on the back.  No need to bleach it or anything because it has a scalp part.  You just got to make sure that the one you’re getting has a color scalp that much your own scalp. So you want to get one that comes closest to your own scalp. If you are Caucasian, you want to get one with a lighter scalp. If you are black, you want to get one for African American black hair or a darker scalp. So what is the difference between the two of them?   This is the difference. One is laced, one is silk. The silk will always have a more reinforced back on it.  With either of these closures; you cannot change your part. The beauty of the closures that I love Is that they are sewn down and there is no need for any glue.   They also come with the baby hair as well.  So if the closures are sewn on correctly, there’s no need to get it glued down so don’t worry about Got To Be Glue or any other kind of glue because it does not require that. Frontals  Now with the frontals, there are different kinds of frontals as well. Same thing with the closure.  There is a silk frontal and a lace frontal. The frontal mean it’s going to be sewn across the front of your hairline.  That means it goes from ear to ear so you could wear your part on either side or wear it back.  You could do a center part or right to left parts; you could move the part. So that’s the difference. Some people like that scalp looking parts of as opposed to doing the lace.   Most frontals are going to come with baby hair already on them if not you can cut your own baby hair and create your hairline.  Now here’s the thing with frontals. Frontals are sewn down. Most of them, when people get a frontal, they want to be able to wear it back in a ponytail, and they want to be able to do funky stuff with it in the front. In order for the frontal to work properly in the front, it has to have something to hold it in the front. Yes, you could sew it down. Yes, you could go in between and sew it down. That’s fine, but if you don’t have something holding It down in the front, on your hairline, it’s going to move, and this is where the disappointment comes in because oftentimes people sew it down and it’s sewn down, and after a few days it begins to move back, and then you’ve seen your own hairline and then the frontal, is moving back and that does not look natural at all. So what I encourage my customers to do is if they have a hairline, which means your hairline is not compromised at all, I encourage them not to use the frontal but to use a closure where they could get a sew down. No, they’re not going to be able to wear it back in a ponytail, but the thing about that is they wouldn’t have to deal with any glue. Now, I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but when you start to put glue on your hairline, it does take your hairline out, and the kind of glue to use with a frontal would be a different kind of glue than the black glue in the beauty supply stores. Do not use the black glue in the beauty supply stores that are not designed for gluing down frontals or 360s.  They are designed to glue down hair.    You shouldn’t really be using the black glue at all, but that’s a different topic. So sticking to this topic, no matter where you go, no matter how many, you-tube videos that you’re going to watch, that shows you that, the frontal is sewn down and it’s all natural. That’s all fine and good when it’s first installed and sewn down. It’s going to look all fine and good. However, after a few days or a week or two, the frontal will move back because no matter what kind of weaving technique you have in your hair, after a while it’s going to move back, it will even with the closure.   For the frontal to stay on your hairline if you’re going to sew it on it and you wanted to last for a few weeks, or maybe a month or two, you’re going to have to glue it down. Now there’s a gel on the market called got two be glue, and there’s a spray on the market also called Got to be glue and there are two different kinds of them. The yellow one, that’s the one in the yellow tube is more water resistant. It will sit in a little bit longer. The one in the black tube is a day to day thing because it’s not really water resistant.  Now the one in the black tube has a clear gel and the one that is in the yellow tube has a white gel.  The one in the yellow tube will hold your frontal down longer depending on how active you are.  This may hold it down on the hairline for 2 to 3 days.   Sometimes people tell me they get a week out of it. Most people don’t get a week because once you start to sweat, especially if you live in Florida where we are, it’s going to move. If you decide to go with the got to be the glue that means every few days you’re going to have to lift your frontal up and reapply the gel, if you use the one in the yellow tube.  The one in the black tube will require more gel every day but is great if you are only wanting a temporary use. Now after a while, there’s going to be a have build-up of the gel and it won’t stick anymore and you’re going to have to wash it and completely remove all reside to get it to stick again. A lot of people don’t want that frustration of having to keep putting that gel down all the time. So then they start messing with all these different kinds of glues. These glues were meant for scalp, not hair so if you use these glue on your hairline it will take out the hair you have on your hairline.  However, you could shave your hairline, and use a professional lace glue.    If you put the same kind of glue on your hair, it is going to take your hair out. Once you start to take it off.   And if it doesn’t happen the first time if you keep doing this, it is going to happen over time, so that’s not a good idea. If your hairline is compromised, whereas you have a receding hairline, or you have no hair on your hairline, then the frontal will be a perfect solution for you because then you could just put it down and you could glue it with the regular lace glue, not the ones that they sell  in  the beauty supply store. A professional lace glue and it will stay down for two to three weeks, but the frontals were designed for people with a compromised hairline that has no other choice.  They will be able to glue it on their hairline once they shave any other hair there and they will be set.  The reason why I’m emphasizing this, and staying on this topic for so long, is because it’s a big problem. People go to you-tube and watch the videos. The frontals on the videos look nice and they want theirs to look like what they are seeing on the videos.   They go to the salon wherever they go, or their friend installs it for them. It looks good for a day or two. Then it starts to move back, and they get upset. It is going to move back. I don’t care how you sew it if you flick it back if you sew in between it, no matter what you do if there’s nothing holding it down on your hairline, it is going to move back.   So that’s the frontal. 360s    The 360 is almost a wig with a hold in the middle.  It’s designed to be used as part of a sew-in weave to give you the ability to wear your hair up in a ponytail or part in any direction.   It’s a lace unit.  You can get a silk top 360 custom designed but the most popular ones are all lace based.   Most of them come with an adjustment in the back so it can be fitted to the head. It is typically sewn down around the head and then the extension hair is added to the middle to complete the look, but in order for you to have it going up in a ponytail and do all the funky stuff that people want it to do, it has to be glued on around the hairline. Yes, you could sew it down but the hairline would need to be glued to keep it there.   The back is a little bit easier to work with because you can sew it to give a nice illusion back there, but the front, if you have a hairline you’re going to need to glue no matter how much you sew it because if you sew too much into it, you won’t be able to part it wherever you want it to part them, which is. That’s the whole idea for 360 to be able to part it wherever you want it to part or to bring it up in a ponytail, in order for you to bring up a ponytail especially a tight ponytail it will need to be glued, especially if you want to wear it overtime  Same thing with the frontal. Personally, I’d tell my customers if they have a hairline, don’t do the 360.  I would prefer to see you do a customize 360 wig that’s specific to your head and you could put it on and take it off when you wish, than to do the 360 piece with a sew-in because these are not customizable and when this goes on your head, in order for it to stay on your hairline,  you will  need to glue it, and if you have a  hairline  and you  glue it, you’re going to compromise your hairline. If it’s only for a few days or for a week or two, then that’s fine because you could use the Got to be got to be glue gel and that will work, but after a while the got to be glue gel has to be washed and completely cleaned off the unit before it will be able to stick again.  This is Sandy with Shallamar’s Hair solutions here in Orlando, Florida. We do a lot of consultations on these each day and we try to teach our clients and customers the difference between these units and what you don’t want is to have a unit that you wear and then when you take it off your hairline, or your hair is compromised.   People get very upset with stuff like that. Nobody wants to lose their hairline, so to keep your hairline intact, I’m going to tell it you to keep away from glues, or if you’re going to glue, you got to go with the got to be glue gel. The got two be glue is a gel that washes off with water and conditioner.  Make sure you are not ripping it off if you use this gel. Make sure you’re wetting that down with a lot of water and using a lot of conditioners to lift it because if you pull it off it can also compromise your hair line so it has to be removed properly. I’m big on hair care. I’ll do any style, any technique, as long as it’s not going to compromise my client’s hair. If it’s going to compromise their hair, I rather not do it. If they want to go somewhere else and get it done, I have no problem with that, but I’m not going to do something that’s going to ultimately hurt someone’s hair, and you’ve got to keep that in mind. So when you see the you-tube videos, and you’ll see the frontals and the 360s, and they’re saying is completely sew down, and it doesn’t move, I want you to send them a question to comment section and ask them, how long does it stay that way? How long do they keep it like that? When it’s sewn down, how long does it stay like that before it starts to move back? Because I guarantee you after a few days it’s going to start to move and you won’t be able to wear it for a month, two months or even up to three months. You won’t be able to do that and keep that frontal or that 360 on your hairline. I promise you that it will move back.  The same thing occurs with the closures as well.  The closure will also move back, but the thing is with the closure when they move back you can always sew them back down, and you still have that natural part. But with the 360s or with the frontals, you could sew it down, but once it starts to loosen up, you’re going to have to keep something there to hold is flush on the hairline And with a lot of people, they will get it done and say they will just wear it like that, however when  it starts to move back, I’ll put on a headband, and it starts to move back, and they still want that flush, nice, beautiful hairline with  baby hair kind of look. So they start to glue it. So here’s my thing. If you’re looking to do frontal or a 360 and you want the best solution and you have a  hairline, and you want the best solution.   Then the solution is to get a customized 360 wig. We customize them all the time. We’ll do the measurements, all that great stuff. Get a customized 360 wig customized specifically for your head. Don’t go online or go to the store and just buy one. Get one customized to you to your head. So when you put it on, it’s going to be the correct thing. There’s also a band that you could use on some of the frontals and some of the 360, some of the wigs. They come with this band that you could hold it in place. That’s a better choice over gluing it down. You can use a band on the 360 wig. You could use a band on the frontal, and you could also use a band on the 360, notice that there’s a difference between the 360 unit and the 360 wig. The 360 unit is where you have the hole in it, that leaves the space for extension hair to sew in. The 360 wig is a complete wig.     With the 360 customized wig you’re able to do your ponytail and put it back off your face because it’s going to fit your head directly and you can also use a band to hold it in place, and you could also put it wherever you want. A Customized 360 wig can also be sewn down and still give the flexibility of wearing it up or down.  In conclusion, it is best to get a professional consultation before you make a decision on what procedure would be best for your hair.  Do not base your decision on a video you see online or what a friend or family member tells you.  Here at Shallamar’s Hair Solutions, we give complimentary consultation to help our customers and clients decides what is best for them a closure,  a frontal or  360 Article Written by  Sandy Giff Shallamar’s Hair Solutions 407 507 3000

Hair Solutions for Hair Loss in Orlando

Roughly 56 million people in the United States suffer from hair loss. Luckily, there are plenty of hair solutions for hair loss in Orlando—whether you’re a tourist or local. You can take advantage of these hair care solutions by contacting experts who can provide a wide range of non-surgical hair replacement and care techniques. Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, impacts both men and women. It can be caused by a number of issues, such as stress, lack of protein, vitamin deficiency, anemia, hypothyroidism, or genetic patterned baldness (male and female). The damage to a person’s life because of hair loss extends far beyond what can be covered up with a hat. The American Hair Loss Association says that male pattern baldness “affects interpersonal relationships as well as the professional lives of those suffering”. In the same vein, the association explains that “hair loss in women can be absolutely devastating for the sufferer’s self-image and emotional well-being”. There are various solutions available for those wanting to combat hair loss and restore their confidence. The first step is to book a consultation with a medical professional, who will be able to identify the cause, such as trichotillomania or fungal infections, and assess which solutions will be best. These can vary from topical treatments to custom hairpieces.

Put it on Top with Topical Solutions

Hair Solutions for Hair Loss in Orlando Topical treatments provide multi-faceted solutions to several different types of hair loss. If a person’s hair loss is linked to fungal infections, there are a number of over-the-counter solutions to combat this issue. For thinning hair, there are a number of shampoos and conditioners that are known to be effective, such as Pantene Pro-V Full & Thick Collection, Nexxus Hair Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, Bumble and bumble Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, and Samy Fat Hair “O” Calories Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner. A hair loss expert will be able to recommend which out of the dozens of possible thickeners will work best for a given person’s hair. To counter male pattern baldness, there is a popular topical solution: Minoxidil. However, it is not designed to help with front of the scalp hair loss or a receding hairline.

Hair Integrations: A Custom Blend

Hair Solutions for Hair Loss in Orlando This process is best for those with thin or patchy hair and can often take less than an hour. By blending your existing hair with real hair, it’s possible to discreetly secure a custom-made unit. Though most virgin, unprocessed, Remy human hair is sourced from China and other Asian countries, Brazilian hair, sourced by places such as Shallamar’s Hair Solution, has a natural bounce and shine to it that makes it especially desirable.

Working the Wig

Hair Solutions for Hair Loss in Orlando Unfortunately, good nutrition, healthy lifestyle habits, and even thickening shampoos and conditioners will only protect a person for so long. Eventually, it comes down to genetics. Lucky, long gone are the days of awkward wigs. From lace-front wigs to full-lace wigs, a person’s wig can be seamlessly fit onto their head. Professional hair loss salons who care are able to provide a wide variety of hair shades, textures, and styles to match any ethnicity at a reasonable price.

Don’t let hair loss damage a person’s mental and emotional health. Don’t let it hold them back. Hair Extensions In Orlando

Hair extensions provide a great way to enhance an individual’s look and improve confidence. With so many options to choose from, deciding which is right for you can be an overwhelming decision. The more you know before you go, the better you will look and feel about your new style. It’s always advised to meet with a professional Orlando hair extension expert who can sit down and go through all these options with you in greater detail that’s more catered to you specific hair type and personality. tape-in-hair-extension-orlando                   Topics We Will Discuss Why people wear hair extensions? The Types of Hair Extensions Are they Safe?   Why People Wear Hair Extensions? The reasons will vary based on each customer. Some of our Orlando hair salon visitors simply want longer hair, some are craving more volume and bounce while others seek out hair extensions for medical reasons such as thinning hair or balding. Whatever your hair extension goals are, there’s a correct and well-suited solution for you. But that solution will vary based on your individual needs. These are some of the more popular hair extension techniques that might just be right for you The Types of Hair Extensions   I-Tips/Beaded Extensions itips-hair-extensions           The hair is pulled though the tip of the hair extension and then crimped with specialized pliers to stay in place. There is no heat involved. It’s the most straight-forward way and one of the more economical ways to add hair extensions. The I-Tips normally come assembled with either aluminum/silicone or copper micro rings. They are often referred to as beaded or micro beaded hair extensions. However, these tips have a tendency to fall out easier for customers with thin hair.  Take a  look at  this  videos that explains hair extensions in more details     U-Tips/Keratin Extensions utips-hair-extensions-for-black-hair           Better suited for all hair types, U-Tips are dipped in keratin, a wonderful hair protectant that is also used to bond these tips to a customer’s current hair. Hair salons in Orlando will fuse these keratin tips to the hair with a hot hair extension iron. The tips are characteristically in the shape of a “U” and will not damage existing hair. The range of flexibility with U-Tips make them the most popular choice among those seeking hair extensions in Orlando.   Tape-ins dscn0002           These extension types have grown in popularity in recent years and utilize a double sided tape to bond hair extension and scalp together. They are tough against water and can withstand a series of typical shampooing. They have the ability to last longer when coupled with using  a dry shampoo in between shampoos.   The tape is clear and attaches to the hair by the root area  to give a more natural look. Best for adding volume and  length.  This technique is not recommended if you go swimming a lot of shampoo more than 2 times per week or have an oily scalp.   Braidless Sew-ins weave-specialists           This hair extension system uses no glue or tapes. It utilizes a weaving system. It allows the customer to mimic the look and feel of natural hair by providing no bulky feeling tips, clips or tapes. It’s naturally sew into existing hair to provide an increased range of style and flexibility. For this type of hair extension in Orlando expect salons to charge more than traditional methods.   Are They Safe?   Hair extensions are completely safe when handled and installed by a professional Orlando Hair stylist. The quality of the hair used is critical in obtaining the natural look and feel of a quality hair extension job. Orlando hair salons such as ours only provide 100 percent virgin human hair for a reliable and safe look that will make you look amazing in the process. Synthetic hair is cheaper, yes, but it’s stiff, looks unnatural and doesn’t feel great on your hair. Treat yourself to a rejuvenated and confident look.

Hair Salons in Orlando: How-To find the Number One Hair Salon

September 28th, 2017 by
Hair Salons in Orlando: How-To find the Number One Hair Salon salon-interior1             Finding a hair salon in Orlando is no hard task; Orlando offers a variety of hair salons to meet all your hair care needs. The hard part comes when choosing a hair salon. There are many ways to go about searching for a hair salon, but before searching, the person must determine their hair care needs. Your hair needs will determine the service you will look for when contacting hair salons. Some salons in Orlando may specialize in cuts, hair color, or up-dos. Other Orlando hair salons may have added specialization which may include Hair Replacement, Hair Weave, and U-Tip / I-Tip hair extensions. To make the most of your salon visit, it’s best to determine the specific hair need in order to find the best Hair Salon in Orlando, or wherever the person is located. The next step in finding your Go-To hair salon is doing some light research. This can be done through: social media, friends, or a specific Google search by location such as Orlando Hair Salon. When a hair salon search includes pages upon pages of salons (even though it has been narrowed down by location) it is also recommended to search using your specific hair care needs as described above. For example, a person can search Hair Extension in Orlando or Hair Weave in Orlando and narrow down the search even further. This way, the search is including both your hair care need and the location you specify.             Once the top salon options have been narrowed down, it’s time to compare prices between salons. There are a couple of ways to compare between salons. When deciding whether the high cost of a hair service is worth the money, remember that hair is an investment. Invest in a good, high quality hair salon with reputable experience and excellence customer service. It is also important to find out if the chosen salon offers different price tiers based on the Stylists’ experience. It should also be noted that salons may offer discounts for being a loyal customer; either through coupons or a rewards system. When in doubt, call the salon(s) to find out prices, or simply search on their salon website for a list of service prices, or discuss price with the stylist before any service if performed.   curls1             Reading reviews is a great way to find out what the general public feels about the services of a hair salon. Many salons have reviews posted by past clients. These can be found during the general Google search by specifying the Salon name followed by the words “reviews”, or “customer feedback”; these can be found on sites such as yelp, or on the salon’s Facebook page. It should also be noted that just because a salon has a few negative reviews, that does not mean the entire salon should be ruled out as an option. Many times negative reviews happen because of miscommunication between client and stylist. It is for this reason that potential clients should take advantage of free salon consultations before any service is performed. If a free consultation is not available, make sure to describe the service in detail with your chosen hairstylist before any service is performed.   Once the salon has been chosen, go ahead and book the appointment. Check out the salon’s website to see if there is an online booking option or a phone number to call the salon receptionist. If the chosen salon is within driving distance, head on in to ask for an appointment or ask if they accept walk-ins. This is also a great way to get to know the salon environment before committing to the actual service. Booking an appointment is strongly recommended because it ensures that the desired time will be set aside. Regular visits with your salon stylist are essential for maintaining optimal hair health and growth.  Regular visits to the same salon also guarantees that the stylist will get to know the hair’s condition. These are just a few simple steps to finding the number one hair salon in Orlando, or wherever the location may be.

Hair Extensions In Orlando: Taking Care Of Your Hair Extensions

August 26th, 2017 by
Hair Extensions In Orlando: Taking Care Of Your Hair Extensions Weave Orlando The frustration of having thin hair, slow hair growth, unattractive or dull hair, is real. Many ladies face this every day and are at a loss on what to do. This is why hair extensions are an all time favorite. You get to protect your hair from harsh elements, thereby giving your hair the chance to grow out. You will also have the thicker, longer, more beautiful hair that you have always craved instantly. The darling of the whole idea is how fabulous you’d look as you flaunt your new extensions. We offer quality hair extensions in Orlando, and we will walk you through the best ways to care for them. Hair Extensions create an opportunity to try out different styles that you couldn’t do with your hair. However, quality hair extensions are expensive. If you want a beautiful looking hair that will last for a long time, then it is necessary to take good care of it. Neglecting the hair might lead to clumping and shedding making it look fake and unattractive. Taking out some time to care for your extension will go a long way in keeping it intact, beautiful and durable. Shallamar’s hair solutions Orlando will give you all you need to care for your extensions. Every extension is unique and has products that suit it best, with our hair care plan, you won’t be confused. However, here are some general hair extension tips you need to know: Brush your hair at least twice a day to stop snags and tangles from settling in. Brush from the bottom till you get to the top of the hair. Use a wide toothed comb first to unfurl the tangles before using a normal bristle brush. Hair extensions get dry easily. This is because it doesn’t get any natural oils from your body as your natural hair does. So, use only quality moisturizing products for your extensions. Your hairdresser will show you the best products to use and how to use them to care for your hair. Moisturizing your extension gives it a longer life span and makes it look soft, shiny and healthy.   hair-replacement-orlando Do not wash your hair and pile it on top carelessly because it will tangle. When it is wet, comb through carefully to avoid pulling out the hair because this is its most fragile state. Remember that what sheds, cannot grow again, so utmost care is advised. Before bedtime, put your hair up in a loose plait or ponytail to prevent tangling while you sleep. Moisturising products are vital. They extend the lifespan of your extensions and keep them looking healthy and shiny. We encourage all our clients to be on a hair care plan at our salon in Orlando. You can opt for a weekly or bi-weekly program which is created to suit your hair and your lifestyle. There are different techniques of wearing your hair extensions: fusion tape, braidless sew-in, sew-in, tape-in, i-tips, u-tips, extensions for thinning hair and hair loss, Micro link, etc. The extension can be used to change your hair color, increase the volume of your hair, add highlights or get the length you desire. Our hair stylists in Orlando are experts in installing hair extensions using various techniques. Shallamars hair solutions can cater to your every need as far as hair is concerned. We have the best colorist salon in Orlando, we offer the most natural hair extensions in Orlando and provide quality service. Here three favorite hair techniques in Orlando that we are exceptionally good at. Interlock This is a revolutionary braidless sew-in technique that involves attaching hair extensions to your natural hair without using braids or glue. Our Orlando hair specialists will sew every raw strand carefully to give it a beautiful, even look. Our Interlocking net wrapping system enables bald spots on your head to be hidden from the back, front and sides. The interlocking technique gives you a smooth, beautiful hair while maintaining your natural hair look. 2. Micro Links Also known as I-tips, Micro bead or cold fusion extensions is another popular technique our professionals use. In this technique, plastic or metal micro beads with a tool are used to loop extensions and natural hair together. It is frequently used to add some inches and volume to your natural hair. The technique looks so real and can last up to 6 months if handled correctly. 3. Keratin Extension It is also known as U-tips, hot fusion and fusion hair extensions and the technique is trendy in Orlando. U-tips are known for their durability. They can be worn day and night for several months.   tape-in-hair-extension-orlando The technique involves using keratin (a fiber protein that is already available in real hair) to attach the extension to your natural hair. The keratin is melted to install the extensions and hardens when it cools. It is a safe method; the keratin wax can easily be removed whenever you want. Our products and services revolve around relaxers, hair colors, highlights, hair weaves, extensions, hair replacements, styling, human virgin hair care, Botox keratin hair treatment, etc. We specialize in all hair types and textures including black and African American hair. We understand the importance of quality service since we have been in the business of hair care for over twenty-two years. We do not take short cuts when it comes to the hair care of our clients. Orlando Hair Salon Offers Summertime Hair and Makeup

May 23rd, 2017 by
Summer is a busy time with graduations, proms, even weddings. Of course we all want to look the best, so what better time and place than our Orlando Hair Salon, where we specialize in multicultural hair and makeup services.  Just in time for our Summertime Deals Special with incredible prices at a Hair Salon Close to Disney Worldcurls1 washandcurls2   Curls are a great hairstyle for a wedding, prom, graduation, or any special event. It’s a perfect style to stand out and show off those beautiful bouncy curls. Even though some of us are not fortunate to have these naturally full curls, that doesn’t mean it cannot be achieved at our Orlando Hair Salon. The curls are then sealed with an expert hairspray given by a Hair Stylist in Orlando that will have hair last all day and night. For those times when it’s not so easy to get to an Orlando Hair Salon, here are 7 simple steps on how to touch-up those curls : Step 1 : Heat up your flat iron. Make sure to allow the iron to heat up completely to temperature before starting to curl for flawless curls. A good tip for what temperature to use is about 320 F for thin hair and 430 F for thicker hair. Keep in mind that the tightness of the curls depend on the width of the flat iron. Step 2 :  Dry your hair if it is wet, if not just make sure there are no damp spots. Brush the hair out from any tangles or knots. A voluminous mousse or moisturizer can be applied for more body when it is curled.  Step 3 : It is so important to protect your hair from the heat of the iron. Apply a heat protection spray to protect it from the damage and dryness that commonly comes from using heat.  Step 4 : Separate your hair in sections that are easy for you. Typically pin the top up with a clip and split the bottom in several parts depending on how many curls you want. Try to keep the sections pinned up and neat to make it easier as you go thru each part curling the hair. Step 5 : Curl the hair. Take one part and if you want the curl coming from the root then clamp the hair with the iron as close to the scalp as possible and flip the flat iron making a u shape in the direction you want the curl to flow out. Continue that step throughout every section that was parted off. Step 6 : Run your fingers through your hair to loosen some curls for a more natural look instead of all bunched up together (optional). Step 7 : Finish this look with hairspray to make those curls last all day or night.  With our Summer Deals, wash and curls prices starting at only $50 !!! …

Hair Extensions Orlando Care Guide

January 15th, 2017 by
There’s nothing worse than hair extensions in Orlando that are unkept. Matted hair with visible new growth and tracks will definitely get you some unwanted attention. Whether you’re keeping late nights studying for that degree, a multi-tasking mom, or just a boss babe, you probably chose hair extensions in Orlando to help you save time and effort when doing your hair. Protective styles are now very popular and it is no longer a taboo to hair weave in Orlando to enhance your look in between transitioning or for just personal style. As more and more women are opting for sew-ins, clip ins, tape ins, i-tips hair extensions in Orlando, u-tips hair extensions in Orlando etc. there is more of a need to be educated on how to take care of them. Caring for your human virgin hair in Orlando really should be one of the most important steps in your decision to get them. Would you be happy with hair extensions in Orlando that you shelled out a serious amount of cash for to only look good only about a month or so? Of course not! blk_weave_b-af2   We expect so much from our hair weave in Orlando, not considering the work that needs to be put in to take care of them. Having gorgeous hair is an ongoing process, the results of which depends on you, your efforts and knowledge in the care of your human virgin hair extensions in addition to your hair stylist expert in Orlando. The better you take care of your hair extensions in Orlando, the longer they will last.  Hair extensions are NOT a wash and go style. It is important to remember that hair in hair extensions is human hair that will not receive your natural scalp oils hair and requires some precautions to keep the hair healthy and beautiful. Hair weave in Orlando get a bad rep for the damage they can cause if you do not properly care for your hair underneath.  Human hair extensions can be a great way to add fullness and length, change up your look or give your natural hair a break from styling. Follow these simple steps and you’ll minimize damage and optimize growth! Let’s take a look at 13 helpful tips on hair extensions maintenance:
  1. Brush hair gently working from ends toward scalp before and after washing.
  2. Use a gentle conditioning/moisturizing shampoo for dry-color treated hair. NEVER USE A VOLUMIZING SHAMPOO! Volumizing shampoos raise the cuticle of hair and can cause tangling.
  3. Wash hair gently in cool to warm water. Do not scrub roughly while washing. Gently comb through hair with fingers in a downward motion while washing and rinsing.
  4. Do not apply conditioner to scalp or bonds. Too much conditioner or very oily hair can weaken the keratin bonds.
  5. It is best not to wash more than 3 times a week unless you have a very oily scalp. Over washing will dry the hair.
  6. Softly towel dry by patting with a towel before blow drying.
  7. Rub Moroccan Argan oil or shine drops into the extensions after shampooing while still damp. (avoid the bonds)
  8. If extensions  become dry and damaged treat once to twice a week with a deep conditioner.
  9. Brush gently 2-3 times a day. Brushing right up the scalp will keep tangles from forming at the base of the extension. Use one of the following brushes:
    • Loop Brush ( med-thick hair)
    • Boar Bristle Brush (med-fine hair)
    • Wide Tooth Comb (ends only)
  10. When blow-drying hair, blow downward with hair’s natural growth, not up into/against hair flow. Dry with fingers then style with a curling iron or flat iron if needed.
  11. Swimming- Always wet hair with tap water, apply conditioner and braid hair before swimming to help avoid tangling. Avoid salt water ( the worst for extensions) and chlorine.
  12. Braiding long extensions is recommended before bed.
  13. NEVER GO TO BED WITH WET HAIR (causes tangling and matting)
blk_weave_b-af With our own hair, we have natural oils that keep the hair healthy, but this is not the case with human hair extensions in Orlando . By washing, conditioning, styling and gentle handling, your human hair extensions will last the six to eight weeks that they should.  Never perm or color virgin remy hair in Orlando extensions on your own. If you are looking for another style or color, your hair stylist expert in Orlando can sew in human virgin hair in Orlando extensions that already have the style and color you want. Use heated styling tools sparingly to prevent hair weave in Orlando from becoming dry and brittle. Schedule an appointment with your hair stylist expert in Orlando six to eight weeks after the hair extensions in Orlando are sewn in. Your hair stylist expert in Orlando can remove them or place filler tracks in the braids to update your look. If your hair shows signs of damage, such as broken hair at the roots, ask the hair stylist in Orlando here at our black hair salon in Orlando to remove the braids and allow your hair to rest. weave-specialists Another great tip before even installing your hair extensions in Orlando is that you deep condition your own natural hair before attaching your human virgin hair in Orlando extensions. Apply a deep conditioning product to damp hair then sit under a hooded dryer wearing a plastic cap for 20 minutes. No hooded dryer at your house? No problem. Leave the conditioner in for about 45 minutes to an hour with just the plastic cap and rinse well. You also want to oil your edges and scalp periodically while your hair extensions are in. Rosemary herb combined with an oil like jojoba or almond will condition hair as well as stimulate growth. You can mix the concoction in a squirt bottle so that you can apply directly to your scalp and avoid the contact with extension bonds. You want to maintain the beautiful quality so you can reuse your human hair extensions in Orlando by following these tips.  Proper care along with your Orlando hair stylist will make your human hair extensions last longer and look better. Call for a free hair consultation at our hair salon close to Disney with our hair stylist expert in Orlando and we will make your hair our affair!
